Snap VPN.

A secure connection should take one tap. The design of Snap VPN begins with that idea — a focused iOS application that opens a private tunnel on iPhone and iPad, with no accounts, no dashboard, and no features beyond the service itself.

Background

Snap VPN was developed to address a specific gap in the iOS VPN market: a focused application that provides essential VPN functionality without ancillary features. Many available VPN applications include extensive feature sets that increase surface area and complicate the user interface.

The application launched in 2024 and has maintained a consistent feature set since release. It operates a global server network across three regions and provides single-tap connectivity through a minimal interface.

Design Principles

Three core principles guide the design and development of Snap VPN.

Focused Protocol Strategy. The application implements modern, audited VPN protocols selected for cryptographic quality, performance on mobile devices, and a small attack surface. Keeping the protocol surface narrow enables deeper optimization and reduces the maintenance burden as the service grows.

Curated Server Network. The service operates a focused set of server locations rather than dozens. Each location is selected for geographic coverage, peering quality, and ongoing operational oversight. Resources are allocated to maintaining the existing network rather than expanding it indiscriminately.

No Account System. Subscriptions are processed through Apple's in-app purchase system. The application does not maintain user accounts, which eliminates credential management and reduces the volume of user data the service handles.

Privacy Approach

Snap VPN does not record connection logs, maintain analytics tied to user traffic, or collect identifying information. Servers are stateless on the service side: they route packets and retain no session metadata.

Trust in a VPN provider depends on transparency and architecture. Snap VPN is structured to minimize the data the service can collect, reducing both privacy risk and the operational burden of data handling.

Current Status

The application is available on the App Store, supports iOS 17 and later, and runs on iPhone and iPad. Snap VPN is funded entirely by subscription revenue. The service is not externally invested and is not for sale.

Planned improvements include additional server locations, a companion application for Apple TV, and ongoing performance enhancements to existing features.
